GOVERNMENT OF THE PUNJAB SPECIALIZED HEALTHCARE & MEDICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT (MEDICAL EDUCATION WING) Dated Lahore, the 19th May, 2023: NOTIFICATION NO.SO(ME-07-16/2022(CIP)(JAN): Pursuant to the decisions made in the Post-Graduate Admission Committee (PGAC) meeting held on 13.05.2023, the Competent Authority has been pleased to modify the merit / scoring criteria under Clause 13 (Sub-Clauses 5 to 9) of the Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) of Post-Graduate Residency of Level-III Programs notified vide No.SO(ME)7-6/2020(CIP) dated 11.03.2021, for July 2023 Induction and afterwards;

I. Matriculation (SSC) 05 Points

Marks obtained divided by total marks, multiplied by 5

II. Intermediate (HSSC) 05 Points

Marks obtained divided by total marks, multiplied by 5

III. MBBS/BDS Aggregate of Marks 20 Points

For Pakistani Graduates, Sum of marks achieved in all professionals divided by sum of total marks in all professionals, multiplied by 20
Sum of total obtained marks in all professional examinations including Islamiat & Pak Studies
Sum of total marks in all professional examinations including Islamiyat and Pak Studies

IV. Attempts Marks in MBBS (for local graduates) 5 Points

Please note that select yes only if you have scored 75% or more marks only in first attempt, in any of the Professional Examination.

IV. NEB Exam/NLE (for Foreign Graduates Only) 5 Points

75% or above marks in 1st Attempt (1.67 point each), 75% or above marks in 2nd Attempt OR below 75% marks in 1st Attempt (0.83 point each). (Subject to issuance of attempt certificate for NEB Examination to foreign graduates by the PM&DC / former PMC. If the attempt certificate for NEB Examination is not issued then these five marks shall be deleted from the total evaluation of 100 marks to ensure parity and fair competition amongst the candidates irrespective of their medical / dental graduation from Pakistan or abroad.)

V. PART-I (FCPS/MD/MS/MDS) 40 Points

■Part-I marks obtained divided by total marks multiplied by 40 for University Post-Graduates MD/MS/MDS. ■Part-1 marks obtained as communicated by College of Physician & Surgeon Pakistan (CPSP).

VI. House Job Marks 05 Points

***Graduates from public sector / private sector institutions in Punjab, who complete House Job in Hospitals attached with Medical / Dental College / University in Punjab from where the candidate had graduated*** ***Graduates from public sector / private sector institutions in Punjab, who complete House Job in such public sector / private sector recognized Teaching Hospitals in Pakistan that are not attached with Medical / Dental College / University in Punjab from where the candidate had graduated*** ***Graduates from public sector / private sector institutions in Pakistan but outside Punjab, who complete House Job in such public sector / private sector recognized Teaching Hospitals in Pakistan that are not attached with Medical / Dental College / University in Punjab from where the candidate had graduated*** ***Foreign Graduates who complete House Job in any public or private sector recognized Teaching Hospital in Punjab***

VII. Application in same Teaching/Graduating Institution 5 points

Candidates, who apply in the institutions from where they had graduated, will be given these marks.

VIII. Experience at Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Healthcare level: 10 Points

i. Experience at Primary Health Care level: (BHUs, RHCs and EPI Clinics of P & SH Department ) 1.25 points for each Three (03) months (without any gap / interruption in same institute). Up to two (02) years accepted, ii.Experience at Secondary Health Care level (THQ Hospitals, DHQ non- Teaching Hospitals, Major Hospital of PESSI, Punjab with 100 beds and above strength only, Indus Foundation managed THQ level Hospitals of the Government of the Punjab and Govt. T.B. Sanatorium, Samli, Murree). 0.75 Points for each Three (03) months (without any gap / interruption in same institute). Up to three (03) years and four (04) months accepted. iii.Experience at Tertiary Healthcare Level including PKLI & RC, MIKD, Multan. 0.5 point for each three months (without any gap / interruption in same institute). Up to Five (05) years accepted.

IX. Position at University Level Examinations 05 Points

Candidates shall be awarded 01 mark to MBBS graduates and 1.25 marks to BDS graduates each shall be awarded for getting 1st or 2nd or 3rd positions in each professional examination conducted at the University (and not at the College) Level.

The total aggregate will be 100 and the marks distributed as:

  • 5 marks for Matriculation/SSC
  • 5 marks for Intermediate/HSS
  • 20 marks for Degree (Islamiyat and Pak. Studies marks included)
  • 5 marks for Attempt
  • 40 marks for JCAT or FCPS part 1 exam
  • 5 Housejob marks for preferring your parent institute i.e. Institute of graduation.
  • 5 marks for applying in the graduation parent institute.
  • 10 marks for Experience at Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Healthcare Level
  • 5 points for Position at University Level

Seat Distribution:

  • 50% of the total seats for FCPS Candidates
  • 50% of the total seats for MD/MS/MDS Candidates
  • 94% seats are for Punjab
  • 6% seats are for other regions distributed as:
  • 2% seats are for foreign candidates
  • 3-2% seats for AJK, GB, Baluchistan & FATA
  • 2% seats for Sindh, KPK, and ICT (Islamabad capital territory)

The quota for disabled candidates (applied since July 2018 Induction).

  • Your CNIC (Front & Back)
  • Profile Picture
  • Domicile (Front & Back). Back is usually “white / Clear” as it has no data. But you will also upload that.
  • All the Detailed Marks Certificates of MBBS / BDS. If you passed through the semester system, then it would contain eight or ten documents. Scan 2 documents together i.e. of the same year; then upload.
  • House Job Certificate
  • Matriculation Certificate
  • MBBS Degree Certificate (If degree is not issued yet, you can upload token issued by University after applying for the degree.)
  • PMDC Certificate (If it is expired and you have applied for the renewal, upload the token issued by PMDC and if you have not applied for the renewal, then apply on an urgent basis in order to avoid any trouble.)
  • Distinction Certificates issued by respective university (if any)
  • Work Experience Certificates
  • Attempt Certificate: Number of attempts are usually mentioned in the details marks sheet. But in March 2019 Leftover induction, they asked for attempt certificate. This is a certificate issued by the Principal, stating your marks and attempts in each professional.
  • Research Link: You need proper links that open the article or its abstract directly.

Scanning Documents: Scan the documents in JPG or JPEG format. Don’t use a mobile scanner, as it leads to poor picture quality that leads to application rejection. Use a high-quality scanner from any shop; it hardly costs 10 rupees per document.
